Chemical Thermodynamic Mechanism of Sulfide Ores during Oxidization and Self-Heating Process

In this paper, a sum total of 29 chemical reaction equations for describing the oxidizing behavior of major sulfide ores were summarized systematically and their reaction heat was calculated in detail according to the chemical thermodynamic principle. Furthermore, the key equation of them, reaction velocity and other relevant features in various conditions were determined based on the experiment analysis. Meanwhile, a large scale field experiment was made in a mine by piling volumes of sulfide ore dumps in a stope and continuously measuring their temperature, SO2 concentrations and environmental conditions during spontaneous combustion. The most practical and complete chemical thermodynamic behavior and features were discovered in the experiment. These discoveries are identical with those achieved in laboratory. The research conclusions are of great significance for the control of mine spontaneous combustion of sulfide ore dumps.
