Research on Hazard Sources and Vulnerability as prerequisites for Disasters Occurrence

Generally, analysis and assessments of disasters have mostly focused on the severity of disasters and availability of technology that can respond to destructive events. While this type of assessment has its place, it overlooks important factors that can define the severity of a disasters outcomes. The paper illustrated the mechanism of how disasters may break out, that is, both hazard sources and vulnerability lead to disasters breakout. As two prerequisites for disasters occurrence, they must coexist. Only with this precondition, may disasters break out. On this basis, the paper further analyzed how these two prerequisites may determine the extent of damage done by disasters. Through the scientific research, the paper aims to help people scientifically get to understand how disasters may break out and that people can succeed in preventing disasters from breaking out and in minimizing disasters bad effects.
