Assessment on the Performance of Chinese Government in Risk Communications for Avian Influenza
The Chinese Government had learnt a lesson from SARS and did a lot on Avian Influenza risk communications. To examine the effect of the crisis communication on the public the author polls five social groups in Jiaozuo region. The poll shows that the majority of the public does not know the risk points of AI, and so the risk communication is unsuccessful. The direct reason is that the Government does not tell the public all of the risk points fully and systematically so that the public can not sketch a whole scenario about AI in their mind. The underground reason, the author deems, is that the Government sticks to the value tropism of so called Society Stabilization and split the system of the risk points designedly.
