Application of Correlation Dimension in the Partition of Steep Slope Deformations

The deformation disaster of slopes is an open, dissipation and complex non-linear dynamic system. The deformation characters are chaos and fractal. In this paper, an appropriate embed dimension was found by reconstructing phase space of the monitoring data from the steep slope of Yin Shui Gou in Xiao Wan hydropower station. Then the correlation dimension D2 is calculated, which can reflect the dynamic character of the slope system. Deformation of the slope was originally partitioned using the correlation dimension. The partitioning results demonstrate the real deformation of the slope. This provides a new method for preventing disaster of slopes.
