Analysis on the cyclic finite deformations of linear compressible elastic materials
Two cyclic deformation paths, namely biaxial tension and compression deformation cycles and combined stretch and shear deformation cycles, are exploited for the energy analysis on linear compressible elastic materials at finite deformations. Results reveal that for the linear constitutive relations except for the Hills model, the work done by all the external forces acting on an arbitrary part of the body will not vanish for the nontrivial cyclic deformation paths. Since the materials are elastic, the non-vanished work after deformation cycles suggests that the materials continually supply or absorb energy without any change in the deformation gradient (and hence also in the stress).
