Nonlinear homogenization of hyperelastic composites using an enhanced meshfree method

This paper presents a nonlinear homogenization analysis of hyperelastic composites, i.e., carbon particle-filled elastomer (PFE), using an enhanced meshfree formulation with consideration of the material interface and periodicity of the microscopic unit ceil model. The governing equations for global and local equilibriums were deduced from the multiscale asymptotic expansion approach. The fundamental strain-controlled tension and simple shear tests were performed on the unit cell and the Mooney-Rivlin model was employed here to model the homogenized hyperelastic composite. Then me fitted material parameters of the MooneyRivlin model for the homogenized PFE were used to predict the macroscopic simple shear response. The results show a favorable agreement between the analytical solution using the homogenized properties and mat obtained by the unit cell analysis of PFE composite.
