Advances in investigations of effects of heating rate on materials properties

Researches into effects of heating rate (HR) on mechanical, thermal, micro-phase transformation properties and sintering of metals and on mechanical or thermal properties of composites, coatings, etc, are reviewed. The importance is put on the effects of HR on mechanical properties of metals. For these effects, it is mentioned that more accurate and systematical macroscopic-microscopic experiments and theoretical modeling and numerical simulations of multi-scale thermo-mechanical-material coupling should be performed and clearer laws should be realized in the future.
