Numerical analysis of cast tubular K-joints and formula of static strength

The strength of welded tubular joints in many forms has been studied, but these results can not be used for cast tubular joints directly, because the intersecting curves of welded joints are welded while the others are cast. In this paper, the nonlinear behavior of cast tubular K-joints was analyzed The study reveals how the different parameters affect the loading capacity and failure model of cast tubular K-joints: the loading capacity increases with the increasing of β,τ,ρ1 and ρ2;the effect of ρ1 on the loading capacity is more than that of ρ2. Finally, based on the results of numerical analysis, a modified formula for cast tubular K-joints has been proposed by applying multivariate regression analysis.
