Numerical study for load-carrying capacity of beam-column members having different Youngs moduli in tension and compression
In mis paper, different tension-compression elastic moduli are introduced in smalldisplacement and large-displacement finite element formulations, and numerical methods are developed using modified Yes model. Three-dimensional finite element iterative program for geometric and material nonlinearity is established. Moreover, numerical study is presented for load-carrying capacity problem of different modulus beam-column. The influential factors of load-carrying capacity are further discussed, including constraint conditions, couple moments, ratios of tensile modulus to compressive modulus, etc. Results show that there are significant errors of load-carrying capacity in the beam-column problem having different moduli by using uniform modulus model.
