Method for consolidation degree calculation considering nonlinearity of consolidation index of soft soil improved with sand piles
When calculating the consolidation degrees of saturated clays in the engineering design, the consolidation parameters are normally regarded as constants. But as a kind of nonlinear material, soils have the properties of nonlinear compression, and the consolidation parameters of soils change along with the development of settlement, which causes the differences between the calculated and realized rate of the settlement. The strict limitation to residual settlement of high-speed railway subgrade requires the calculation more precise, so it is necessary to study more accurate methods on the consolidation degree calculation. Through analyzing the measured data from the soft soil improvement project of a high-speed railway trial embankment in China, for the first time, the nonlinear variation law of consolidation index of sand-pile ground is obtained, and on the basis of conventional consolidation degree formula, a calculation formula which can reflect this law is proposed. This formula provides a more accurate calculation method for die residual settlement of sand-pile ground.
