Study on ductile fracture of semi-elliptical surface cracks

In this paper, the J-integral of the semi-elliptical surface crack on ductile fracture is studied, based on the Gurson-Tvergaard model, by the three-dimensional non-linear finite element method. Semi-elliptical surface crack specimens are analyzed by changing aspect ratio and depth/thickness ratio. The J-integral values are given at an arbitrary point along the crack front, and the effect of the crack shape and the crack depth on the J-integral values is discussed.
