Analysis of non-linear stability of large cylindrical shell structure
As a new hydraulic structure, the large cylindrical shell structure is widely used in port and sea engineering because of its unique advantage, which can be directly embedded in the soft foundation without treatment. The structure is subject to long-term dynamic force with the complex interaction between the structure and the soil. In this paper, the stability of structure is represented by its displacement, and the additional buckling force due to the soil sliding in the large cylinder is included as well. The formula for the non-linear stability is deduced, and the corresponding non-linear iterative program is developed. In addition, by calculating an engineering example, the factors which affect the stability of structure have been analyzed. Finally, it is concluded that the critical embedded depth of structure is hcr≥0.77h.
