Effect of Peierls-Nabarro force on dynamic responses of semi-infinite bar
The drillstring in oil drilling engineering was simplified as a semi-infinite bar. Through taking account of the Peierls-Nabarro (P-N) force and viscous effect of solid, the dynamic response of die bar was simulated under harmonic driving at one end. With the physical properties specified, it is found that all the particles of the bar have the same qualitative characters, and vibrating amplitude decreases down the bar. Along with the amplitude of P-N force increasing, the dynamic responses show the 1T-periodic, quasi-periodic, chaotic, 13T-periodic, chaotic, 1T-periodic. It appears that the particles of the bar reach chaotic range through quasi-periodic motion.
