Three-dimensional nonlinear vibrations of an axially moving viscoelastic belt with integral constitutive law

Nonlinear vibrations of an axially moving viscoelastic belt are investigated based on integral constitutive law. First, the nonlinear governing equations, partial-differential-integral equations, of motion for the axially moving viscoelastic belt are derived by using Hamiltons principle in three-dimensional space. Then, the method of multiple scales and the Galerkins approach are applied directly to the governing equations of motion to obtain four-dimensional averaged equation. Finally, the results of numerical simulation demonstrate that there exist the periodic and chaotic motions of the axially moving viscoelastic belt, and they can evolve each other.
