Numerical study of coupling problem: interaction between pipe and peak pressure
This research has been inspired by security concerns to ensure safe utilization of pipeline systems used for gas and crude oil transportation. This study is primarily focused on behavior of a pipeline subjected to the shock wave produced by the detonation of high explosive (HE) materials. During this study the case with the detonation of high explosive placed under the pipe are analyzed. FE models described are used for an analytical damage assessment of a pipe subjected to the shock wave produced by the detonation of HE. Coupled Euler-Lagrange formulation are used in the FE analysis. Additionally the governing equations to describe the structural and fluid domain are presented. Preliminary results of this study allowe for analysis of the blast wave propagation and the resulting damage inflicted by the pipeline.
