Study on propagation properties of nonlinear torsional wave in non-circular cross-sectional rod
The torsional motion around the axis of the rod may accompany the warping of the cross-section for non-circular cross-sectional rod. The warping motion causes the dispersion of the torsional waves. If mis kind of motion and the finite torsional deformation are considered simultaneously, a new nonlinear torsional wave equation is derived. This nonlinear equation was solved by the Jacobi elliptic function expansion method. Two kinds of exact periodic solutions of the equation were obtained. The limit conditions of these solutions were given.
