Saddle-supported pipe: investigation of plastic deformations

By the reason of capability lack of stress state estimate in real pipeline, numerical analysis are taken for this purpose, e.g. finite element method. However, it needs to remember, that numerical simulations of pipelines must be verified by the way of laboratory or range researches, or through simulations of real failure of object. In carried numerical analysis stamping process of deformable pipe by rigid bodies was investigated. Two different shapes of rigid bodies (cylindrical and rectangular) were taken into account. Determination of strain-stress states in case of large deformation (about 30% change of diameter) is the purpose of this research. Numerical analysis were preceded by experimental tests. The results received from numerical analysis were compared to the experimental results.
