Nonlinear deformation of natural rubber: experiments and modeling

Nonlinear deformation of natural rubber is examined and mathematical theories of nonlinear large elastic deformation have been developed based on strain energy functions through uniaxial tension and equibiaxial tension. The effect of the loading rates on the stress-strain behavior is analyzed and nonlinear strain energy functions have been developed for two cases. The comparison between the calculated values from this function and the experimental data demonstrates that the proposed models are able to represent the stress-strain behavior of natural rubber.
