Experimental investigations of dynamic counterintuitive behaviors of circular plates subjected to impact loading
Structural dynamic counterintuitive behaviors is a special elasto-plastic response. Counterintuitive here means that the final deflection may be in the opposite direction of the load. In this paper, experimental investigations on circular plate subjected to transverse struck by a bullet was carried out. With advanced laser displacement sensors, displacement-time histories curves in the plates were measured and recorded. By using this sensor, a quantity of impulsive tests were conducted on the aluminum alloy circular plates of different diameters and thickness. The dynamic counterintuitive response of circular plates was found in the experimental investigations. The results shows the objectivity of dynamic counterintuitive behavior and indicates that counterintuitive behavior may happen under certain experimental circumstances.
