Experiments of shear viscosity and interfacial tension of Orimulsion-400

The shear viscosity and interfacial tension of Orimulsion-400 were experimentally studied. The Orimulsion-400 was first dewatered and formulated into the simulated oil. Its shear viscosity and interfacial tension were then measured. The development tendency of shear viscosity of simulated oil is not in one direction. During the development process the value of the shear viscosity reaches a peak first, and then descends. The interfacial tension of simulated oil almost keeps unchanged as time passes. The interfacial tension of simulated oil is the lowest at the temperature of 30℃, then it rises when the temperature goes down and up. The result of fitting formula shows that when the temperature goes below 0℃ or above 80℃, the interfacial tension has mutation phenomenon. It may result in emulsion-breaking.
