Retrieval theory on GPS dropsonde wind-finding system
With the widely use of global position system (GPS), the GPS-dropsonde becomes a more and more important method for measure the high space wind. Based on the principle of fluid mechanics, a hydrodynamic equation for the common rigid object moving in the wind is proposed and its application is analyzed. An adjoint model for the dropsondes wind-finding based on these equations is presented by using the inverse problem theory. In order to overcome the difficulty of ill-posedness, especially for instabilities and nonuniqueness, the regularization ideas in inverse problem are developed in the adjoint model. Finally, some numerical tests are given to show the effectiveness of this method.
