Analysis of turbulent counter gradient transport in stably stratified flow using empirical mode decomposition

In this paper, the velocity and temperature time series of stably stratified turbulent flow, which are obtained from LES are analyzed by Empirical Mode Decomposition, The signals are decomposed into different scales successfiilly. Then the local intermittency measurement and the local CGT are investigated. It is found that the small scales exhibit stronger local intermittency than the larger ones and the global CGT is the competition result between the local CGT and down gradient transport.
