Evolution of an interfacial soliton past a submerged barrier floating in a two-layer fluid
Based on the edge layer theory, the problem of interactions between an internal solitary wave and a submerged barrier floating on the interface in a two-layer fluid system was investigated. An initial value for the nonlinear evolution equation was proposed. It is shown that there exist obvious effects of the density ratio, the thickness ratio of the upper- to lower-layer and the depth ratio of the barrier into the upper- and/or lower- layer on the transmitted and reflected waves.
