Spatial dynamics of some classical open shear flows
The turbulence generation mechanisms of real open flows are considered as the intrinsic mechanisms of Navier-Stokes equation. At first, we sketched the relations and discrepancies between the mathematical studies and mechanical experimental discoveries. Then, a novel research idea and methodology termed as spatial dynamics analysis based on the corporation between some kinds of mathematics and experiments are sketched. Finally, some results of spatial dynamics analysis carried out to axisymmetric shear flows, planar-symmetric shear flows, variable density round jets and cylinders wakes with low Reynolds number are summarized.
