Periodic motion and bifurcation in self-excited oscillation system due to dry friction
Friction-induced vibration is a phenomenon that has received extensive attention by the dynamics community. This is because of the important industrial relevance and the evolving development of new friction models. In mis paper, the friction model we use was that developed by Popp and Stelter, and that is receiving increasing acceptance from the mechanics community. Using this model, the velocity of belt was selected as the bifurcation parameter and the fixed points and the stability of the fixed points were investigated as the parameter changes. It is found that the unstable Hopf bifurcation occurs. When the fixed point is unstable, self-excited oscillation arises. Moreover, for certain parameters, the numerical technique which allows not only to find the solutions for the freely chosen parameter sets but also to obtain their stability demonstrated the result of theoretical analysis.
