Nonlinear analysis for helicopter ground resonance using multiscale method
The limit cycle behavior of a helicopter nonlinear ground resonance has been analyzed using the multiscale method. The 2-D dynamic model is used in this analysis. Damping nonlinearities in the blade damper are considered. The equations of motion of a helicopter rotor/fuselage coupled system are derived using Lagranges equations. With the multiscale method, the coupled nonlinear equations of motion is solved easily. The frequency and amplitude of the limit cycle oscillation are calculated. Results show mat the limit cycle oscillations occur under some special conditions with nonlinear blade damping. This phenomenon can not be understood using the linear theory.
