Qualitative analysis of FHN model
The instability of equilibria for three-dimensional dynamical system converted from the FHN model in the sense of traveling waves has been proved. The existence of limit sets (either type-Ⅰ or type-Ⅱ) and the existence of homoclinic or heteroclinic orbits have been achieved and an open problem raised by Smoller on the existence of a traveling pulse has been solved. There exist chaotic phenomena near the equilibria or strange attractor via the first authors definition of chaos in differentiate dynamical systems. The bifurcation on certain parameters is also discussed and the explanation of chaos in biophysics has been concerned.
