Multiscale algorithm of coupling discrete and finite element methods and its validation
A multiscale numerical model was established by coupling Discrete Element Method (DEM) and Finite Element Method (FEM). The model was validated to be feasible and efficient by an example of stress wave propagation. The results indicate that the model makes DEM and FEM transit smoothly and improves efficiency of computation greatly.
