Potential theory method for penny-shaped crack with electric saturation

The extended potential theory method for piezoelasticity is employed to account for the electrically yielded phenomenon (electric saturation) around a penny-shaped crack tip for the axisymmetric loading. The Dugdale model proposed to simplify the plastic deformation analysis near the crack tip in nonlinear fracture is adopted. The solution of the resulting integro-differential is presented with the outer radius of the electric saturation annular strip determined from the condition of no singularity of electric field at the crack tip. It is illustrated that existing results in potential theory could be utilized to obtain complete solution of the problems under consideration.
