The influences of fly-ash on SCR catalyst
Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology is the most common back-end technology for reducing NOx emissions from power stations. For SCR systems usually installed before ESP, they have to face the influences of the fly ash. Disadvantages to catalysts due to fly ash can be divided into two primary topics, mechanical and chemical. Mechanical aspects include erosion and plugging, while chemical aspect is considered to be the deactivation by ash constituents: K, Na, and CaO etc. Countermeasures to the problem are correct catalyst selection, soot blowing and suitable system design.
