A NOVEL LIVING CELL MANIPULATION TECHNOLOGY USING NANONEEDLE AND AFM

In this report, we introduce a novel living cell manipulation technology using an atomic force microscopy (AFM) and a nanoneedle. The nanoneedle was prepared etched and sharpened into diameter of 200 nm using focused ion beam. Three dimensional operation and insertion of the nanoneedle can be monitored in real time using AFM We succeeded in a high efficient gene transfer into primary cultured human mesenchymal stem cell (hMSCs) using DNA-adsorbed nanoneedle.
