A NON-INVASIVE GLUCOSE MONITOR BASED ON AMPEROMETRIC BIOSENSOR AND ITS RF-BASED WIRELESS APPLICATION

In this paper, a wrist-watch non-invasive glucose monitor based on amperometric biosensor is introduced, which can extract substances from within the body outward through the skin continuously and non-invasively based on the principle of reverse iontophoresis. The concentration of glucose in the substances extracted out could be detected by the biosensor and then the concentration of blood glucose is obtained according to our unique algorithm. The glucose monitor can provide glucose readings every 20 min. Experiments with mouse skin have shown that the biosensor could work well responding to subcutaneous glucose in concentration range between 0. 6 and 19 mM with good linear relation (R=0. 994 3, n=6). This glucose monitor has RF wireless module inside, which enables the glucose monitor to send blood glucose information to other RF wireless nodes in a radio frequency network. A PC (Personal Computer) could get the blood glucose information from glucose monitors via radio frequency network for further processing and analysis. An effective scheme of glucose monitors wireless application is put forward in this paper, which makes the practical rate of inaccuracy of wireless transmission close to 0%.
