ENVIRONMENT ENDOCRINE DISRUPTOR NONYLPHENOL MODULATED ABP AND INHIBIN GENE EXPRESSION IN CULTURED RAT TESTICULAR SERTOLI CELL
Nonylphenol (NP) is a contaminant widely distributed in the environment. As an important environment endocrine disruptor, Nonylphenol has been documented to disturb male reproduction in a large number of literatures. In the present study, it was verified that Nonylphenol could influence gene expression of rat testicular Sertoli cells. Nonyfphenol at concentrations used in the study (0. 1, 10 and 20 μM) didnt cause visible cell morphological changes, but significantly modulated ABP and inhibin gene expression. Gene transcription of ABP was enhanced at low concentrations (0. 1 and 10 μM) of Nonylphenol, but was suppressed at higher concentration (20 μM). However, Nonylphenol showed a stimulative effect on inhibin gene expression at all the concentrations used. Taken together, Nonylphenol could cause a significant disturbance of ABP and inhibin gene transcription in Sertoli cell, which might provide a new sight onto the mechanism of Nonylphenols influence on male reproduction.
