DEVELOPMENT OF WEB-BASED KNOWLEDGE PORTAL FOR POLISHING ENTERPRISES

This paper presents a conceptual development of a Knowledge Portal for polishing process which plays an important role in trimming appearance and glossy surface of manufactured products. As of modern times, determination of polishing parameters still remains a subjective approach based on personal experience of operators, which is not useful in organised work to process optimization. To provide a solution to streamline polishing processes and products (PPPA), a Web-Based Knowledge Portal system (WBKP) is developed to cope with the vast collective polishing knowledge, information sharing across companies, optimal polishing solution and applicable case initialization. Functionality of WBKP will be explained with provision of online interfaces, access integration to polishing expertise and values, and application embedment to serve as self-documenting activities.
