FRACTAL-LIKE DESIGN MODELLING USING ATTRIBUTED GRAPHS
The research reported in this paper is aimed at developing a systematic approach for intelligent casebased design. As the core of the system, a design model has been introduced. The model is employed to assess the similarity between a new design and existing designs, and adapting a retrieved design to suit a new situation. The model is in the form of attributed graphs containing information about function, feature, structure, performance and goal, and has the fractal characteristics of selfsimilarity, self-organisation, goal-orientation and dynamism.
