Study on Heavy Metal Stabilization in Sludge with Bentonite and Sulfide
The stabilization of heavy metals in sludge was studied by using bentonite and Sulfide separately. With chemical speciation analysis of heavy metals and with heavy metal toxic characteristic leaching experiment, the application probability of two kinds of materials in adsorption and stabilization of heavy metals were studied to offer a new way to treat heavy metals effectively in the agriculture u-tilization of sludge. Results show that leaching concentration of heavy metals is decreased to meet the standard of sludge utilization in agriculture. And, the species of heavy metals are changed too with the ratio of the unsteady species of heavy metals in sludge reduced greatly. Among these, Bentonite has effective adsorptive properties on heavy metals like Cd and Ni, while pH value is main influencing factor on adsorption and sodium sultide has good stabilization properties on heavy metals like Zn, Cu and Cd. When 10% scales medicament was used, leaching concentration of Zn was 4.96mg/L only and the ratio of the unsteady species of heavy metals in sludge was reduced by 50%~60%.
