Integrated Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals for Equipment

The Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) is a digital package of information required for diagnosis and maintenance of both military and commercial complex systems and equipment. The integration of the IETM with user context and organization context becomes a major challenge to the IETM community. In this paper, we point out the integration essence of the IETM. A new definition of the integrated IETM is defined. We also present the integration technology and give out an integration solution, including scalable architecture, evolving documents and standards compliance. This solution enables the IETM to deliver the right support information to the right place at the right time and in the right form.
