Modelling Fallible Maintenance Processes Using the Delay-Time Concept and Probabilistic Stochastic Filtering Techniques

In this paper, we report on an investigation into the ability to identify the existence of artificial fault injection during planned preventive maintenance (PM). Delay time modelling for complex systems is used to characterise the fault arrival and resulting failure process and the necessary parameter estimation is undertaken using basic failure time information. We then consider the utilisation of the model in terms of making recommendations regarding both the improvement of the existing maintenance process and future scheduling decisions
