There much efforts have been put to improve the system reliability, availability, maintainability and supportability (RAMS) resulting in quantitative and qualitative effects on system effectiveness and life cycle cost (LCC). This paper gives an overview of reliability, availability, maintainability, and supportability (RAMS) engineering and their effects on system performance.
