Methods to Determine Supportability Requirements and Predict Availability for a Cannon System

In order to influence the design of a new cannon system through determining its support requirements, its necessary to systematically consider equipment support during the phases of demonstration and development Based on the summarization of past experience in determining the qualitative and quantitative requirements of a new cannon system, using supportability analysis theory and technique, methods of determining supportability parameters are discussed and models for calculating availability, which is an integrated supportability parameter, are presented. In the end, a case is given to demonstrate how to use the models and methods. As has been proved by the results, these models and methods establish a better foundation for implementing supportability design, achieving supportability objectives and speeding the formation of the new equipments support capability. Also, they provide a good reference for supportability demonstration, analysis and design of other new equipment.
