Numerical Modeling of the Filling Stage of Gas-Assisted Co-Injection Molding With Viscoelastic Fluid Model
Based on the incompressible Leonov viscoelstic fluid model, under some reasonable assumptions and simplifications, mathematical models in the thin part of the cavity and gas channel during Gas-Assisted Co-Injection Molding processes were constructed, respectively. Control-volume/finite-element method was used to solve the governing equations of fluid fields. The obtained result was served as an input for the residual stress calculation. An example of the filling process of Gas-Assisted Co-Injection Molding was simulated. It shows that the mathematical models of Gas-Assisted Co-Injection Molding and the numerical methods are valid.
