Metal Plating of Fibers Using Supercritical Carbon Dioxide
The conventional electroless metal plating of polymer materials requires more than ten stages. Moreover, waste water treatments are not easy to be performed. In this paper we propose a new 2-stage pre-treatment process for electroless metal plating in which some organic metal complexes are impregnated into the polymer materials, such as PP and PA6 by supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2). Additionally, the catalytic metal was easily released by an overheating process. Applying the catalyst, the processed polymer was put into the copper plating solution and a strong shining copper film was able to be adhered at the polymer surface in a short time.
