The Performance Properties of Naturally Colored Cotton Woven Fabric Treated with Enzymes
After comparing the performances of the naturally colored cotton woven treated with alkali and enzymes respectively, we treated woven in a two-step method, i. e. with pectmase first followed with cellulase treatment, at optimized technological conditions. We found that wettability of the fabric treated with pectinase could not get to that treated with alkali, while the two-step method was an effective way to finish fabric. This technology could effectively remove the impurity covering on the cotton fiber, and increase the wicking height and soft performance. The research suggests that such two-step treatment is a very hopeful technology for the environmentally friendly finishing to the naturally colored cotton fabric.
