A Novel Semi-rigid Mesh Grid Composite: Design, Manufacturing and Property Test
Polymer composites have received broadly used in recent years. But most of them were made into the shape of bar, plate, shell or block, which is usually rigid and stiff, providing ultra high modulus and strength as metal does. In this paper, we introduced a new kind of semi-rigid mesh grid composite by combining the flexible feature of textile with the rigidity of composite. The structure design and manufacturing process is introduced and the relative properties are tested. The results show that the novel semi-rigid composite can keep the figuration of the basic mesh grid while minimizing products weight and providing enough strength to its end use.
