Study on Tactile and Mechanical Properties of Spun Silk Fabrics

The relationships between handle properties and softness, thickness, roughness as well as dryness of 12 different spun silk blended fabrics were investigated by using the method of semantic differential. The properties of tensile, shear, bending, compression and surface of these fabrics were also tested by using KES. The data of the estimation and measurement were analyzed by using statistical software package SPSS. The results showed that there were correlations between handle properties and softness& dryness of these fabrics, and also between handle properties and mechanical parameters of these fabrics. The significant variables in subjective and objective estimation were chosen for the regression analysis. By using the obtained regression equations, the tactile properties of spun silk fabrics can be predicted more rationally. It will provide scientific reference for the design of spun silk fabrics to meet customers demands.
