A Study on the Moisture Transfer Property of Stockings
Stockings as a kind of decoration, body figure forming and health protective tools for the lower limbs, draw consumers more and more attention to its comfort property. In this work, the moisture transfer property, which is a major factor influencing the wear comfort of stockings, was investigated. Eight types of stockings, differing in fiber materials, yarn structures, knitting structures, thickness, etc. , were selected as samples. The tests of water vapor permeability, water absorbability, and wetting property were carried out on these samples. The result showed that capillary actions among yarns is little, the water vapor permeability and water absorbability of fabrics are the main factors affecting the moisture transfer property of the stockings. The findings will provide scientific guidance for the design of high-performance stockings.
