Study of 3D Stitched Composites with Kevlar Yarns
This paper presents a basic study of the stitched advanced composites in the throughthickness direction, introduces the manufacture technology and stitching parameters, test methods and applications about them. Specimens stitched with Kevlar yarns with varying stitch density were studied, the effect of stitching parameters on composites properties have been compared, including tensile, flexure, compression and interlaminar shear properties, and the basic mechanical propertties date base is enriched, the biggest improvement in properties will be observed, and proved they have wide potential applications.
