THIRD-ORDER OPTICAL NONLINEARITY OF Cu2+-DOPED GERMANO-SILICATE GLASS FIBER

We propose a Cu 2+-doped optical fiber with high resonant nonlinearity of 5.3 ×10-17 m2.W-1 around 1570 nm at the launched pumping power of 104.76 mW with a 980 nm laser diode. Broadband absorption near 700 nm and the origin of the high nonlinearity are due to the electronic absorption transitions in the 3d orbital of Cu2+ions.
