OPTICAL COUPLERS BASED ON THREE PARALLEL COUPLED LONG-PERIOD FIBER GRATINGS

We propose an optical coupler based on the structure of three parallel long-period fiber gratings. The effects of changing the surrounding refractive index and introducing an offset distance between the gratings on the transmission characteristics are investigated. Using this structure, we demonstrate experimentally a multiport optical add/drop multiplexer and a 1×3 optical coupler with an equal output power distribution.
