NEW ALL-OPTICAL SWITCH BASED ON PHOTONIC CRYSTALS

In this paper, we proposed an all-optical switch based on two-dimensional (2-D )square-lattice photonic crystals (PCs )with 45° rotated splitting structure. This splitting structure can give rise to the bending and splitting of electromagnetic wave in 2-D PCs from the finite-difference time-domain simulations. The size of splitting structure has been varied to observe the related output power, and this splitting structure can divide the input power into two outputs that are perpendicular. The numerical result show that the proposed device could really function as an all-optical switch.
